Martha Rosler at Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Santiago de Chile (MAC)

Si tú vivieras aquí (If you lived here), takes its title from the work If you lived here from 1989, where Rosler interrogates the processes of gentrification and social impoverishment in the United States during the Ronald Reagan administration. The translation gives rise to other views and reflections in the Latin American context, with local narratives, referring specifically to current human movements and the conformation of the national identity after the dictatorship.

This exhibition, the first retrospective in Latin America of the artist, is composed of an emblematic selection of the work of her authorship, with documentation of gender, social conflicts, displacements and migrations; and the Martha Rosler Library project, carried out with different local agents through book donations and with a special focus on Chile and Latin America.

Si tú vivieras aquí (If you lived here) refers to an implicit movement, a transition from one place to another, from one body to another and a possibility of transformation that puts into question concepts such as identity, gender, race and nation.

The exhibition also includes a dialogue between the artist and local creators from different generations and regions of the country: Cristóbal Cea, Claudia del Fierro, Voluspa Jarpa, Bárbara Oettinger, Bernardo Oyarzún and Máximo Corvalán will complete the exhibition with works of their authorship.
