Mitchell-Innes & Nash is pleased to announce the first public reading from The Extreme of the Middle: Writings of Jack Tworkov, recently published by Yale University Press. The editor of this book, painter and writer Mira Schor, will include selections from Tworkov's writings from the period covered in the current exhibition, Jack Tworkov: True or False. Schor will also discuss her editorial role and her own writings about Tworkov's paintings from this period in her new book, A Decade of Negative Thinking: Essays on Art, Politics, and Daily Life. "Schor's labor of love… brings to life an artist once referred to as a 'quiet giant' of American art, and thanks to her effort, his intelligent, inquisitive voice is given full throat in these pages." John Skoyles, Ploughshares, Winter 2009-10 Free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase.
