Marianne Boesky Gallery and Mitchell-Innes & Nash are pleased to collaborate in the presentation of joint exhibitions of new paintings by Diti Almog. The two shows will run concurrently and a fully illustrated catalogue will be available. Diti Almog continues to be fascinated by the act of looking at painting. Made of aircraft plywood, Almog paints precisely with a palette of creamy whites, dark rich browns and orange. Her paintings create an enigmatic physical presence. Through her use of light and the positioning of shapes, Almog introduces the paintings' surroundings resulting in an interaction with any space they occupy. They constantly resonate with perceptual ambiguity gently taunting the viewer, yet at the same time, the paintings are extremely simple and clear. "In their austerity and simplicity these paintings reveal zones of madness where fixing or determining meaning and identity is a way of releasing different meanings and identities."
