Roy Lichtenstein at Pavilion of Art and Design London, October 12-16

Mitchell-Innes & Nash invites you to visit our booth at Pavilion of Art and Design, London. This fair focusing on the best of 20th-century art and design will take place in Berkeley Square, October 12-16. The gallery will present a selection of Roy Lichtenstein collages from the Interiors series. These large-scale, never-before-exhibited collages from the 1990s feature generic, affluent interiors, complete with art on the walls. The gallery's presentation offers a glimpse inside the Interiors, with the collages displayed alongside modern art and furniture that might be featured in one of Lichtenstein’s works: a Calder sculpture, a Warhol portrait, or a Rietveld chair. These unique collages were an integral part of the Roy’s artistic process – while his paintings are known for their polished, almost mechanical perfection, the collages reveal Lichtenstein’s hand at work. Lichtenstein first explored the theme of the domestic interior as early as the 1960s and would return to the subject throughout his long career.
