Martha Rosler began Body Beautiful, or Beauty Knows No Pain in the mid-1960s and continued the series until 1972. She constructed these collages from glossy print ads and fashion magazines, reassembling them in various states of fragmentation to produce a poignant and effective criticism of the external pressures and fantasies projected on woman. Mitchell-Innes & Nash and Galerie Nagel Draxler are delighted to present, for the first time, the full set of photomontages and original collages.
