Mitchell-Innes & Nash will present its program alongside neighbors Goodman Gallery, South Africa and London, and Galerie Lelong & Co., New York and Paris. All three galleries will collaborate on public programs and share the same opening hours.

The gallery will open November 24, 2021 through January 2022, and will be closed on public holidays, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Mitchell-Innes & Nash is pleased to announce Smoke & Mirrors, the second exhibition at our seasonal gallery in the Miami Design District opening today and on view through the end of January 2022.
Referring to an 18th century technique in which smoke and mirrors are employed to make an entity appear to hover in empty space, the phrase has entered common language to refer to something which, when examined closely, proves to be an illusion.
Taking its title from the suite of watercolors by Keltie Ferris made for this exhibition, Smoke & Mirrors examines a group of works which employ illusion through symbols, mark-making and hidden meaning.
Art Basel Miami Beach has twice been disrupted by seismic world events. In 2001, what was to be the inaugural edition of the art fair was postponed a whole year in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks. Last year, the coronavirus pandemic was the culprit, though the live fair was replaced with an online viewing room.
In the intervening years, the fair became the linchpin of a booming Miami art scene and a larger cultural economy.
Now, as Art Basel returns to the Miami Beach Convention Center from Thursday through Saturday with 253 galleries from 36 countries and territories, it meets a pent-up demand — you could say that the supply chain for a certain kind of prestige fair has been unclogged.
